5 Tips to plan for your Engagement Shoot

Tip #1: Think of the Engagement shoot as a trial for your wedding.

This is your chance to get to know the photographer on a more personal, down to earth level, to decide if you’re a good fit together. Let the tensions fall away, let the personalities come out!

Tip #2: Wear Comfortable Clothing.

This has got to be one of the most important things to know going into an Engagement Shoot. You want to look comfortable, but more importantly, FEEL comfortable. The engagement shoot is about relaxing with each other and having a good time, or whatever you normally wear for a day of shopping on the town :) I always say, bring 2 outfits max, that way we have variety and can change clothes and head to another venue (time permitting)

Tip #3: Setting the Scene

Location is key! Think about things you two love to do together. Here are a few suggestions...If you really enjoy snuggling on the couch together, "netflixing and chilling" lol, then an "at home" session would be ideal for you.Do you like to go on hikes together? If you like the outdoors, then take your photos in the woods or by the lake! Don't be afraid to take your kayaks with you! This is about "setting the scene" Are you really into fashion and business? Then let's head downtown. A nice skyline in the background, while you're wearing that Prada dress and that Armani suit is ideal.Knowing these things about yourselves will truly help figuring out what you love to do together and where you want "The Scene" to be set!

Tip #4: The Time of Day

Sunrise and sunset. Those are the 2 best times of the day to take photos. You may have heard of the "Golden Hour." That is the short time just before sunset when you get the warm sunny haze in your photos. It's magical, beautiful and brings so much love to the photo. Or, if you're a morning person (which I'm not) you can try to get up freakishly early and do a sunrise photoshoot as well, getting similar results!

Tip #5: Find Inspiration!

Bring some examples and inspiration you found! Pinterest is huge, full of engagement and wedding tips and inspiration. Create a Pinterest board and put all your favorite images in there and show us on the day of the shoot! That way, we are all on the same page as to what you are looking for and what fits your style and personality :)
